National Health Programmes

Subjects with wide implications at the national level, such as family welfare, population control, medical education, prevention of food adulteration, quality control and drug manufacturing, are included in the Concurrent List. It allows both the central and state governments to exercise constitutional authority, within the limits of the law, to design and implement programmes. Programmes developed by the Centre are implemented throughout the country and are usually called national health programmes.

Many types of health programs are being run by the government such as :

  • National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB)
  • National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP)
  • Programme for Prevention & Management of Burn Injuries (NPPMBI)
  • National Oral Health Programme (NOHP)
  • National Programme for Prevention and Control of Fluorosis (NPPCF)
